Community Sensitization: Building a Future Where Every Child Learns
The Reaching Out-of-School Children (ROOSC) Project is currently carrying out an ongoing community sensitization campaign across 9 LGAs in Kaduna State. This exercise, which began on the 9th of September and will run until the 20th of September, is part of Component 1 of the project, implemented by Save the Children International.
At the start of every school year, it is critical to remind parents, caregivers, and community leaders of the importance of enrolling children in school and supporting their education. This year’s campaign goes further by emphasizing the enrollment of the girl child and children with disabilities, ensuring that no child is left behind. Education empowers children with knowledge, confidence, and opportunities, but this is only possible when communities actively take responsibility for encouraging and supporting school attendance.
Another important message being shared during this campaign is the mainstreaming of children in the Catch-Up Clubs (CuC) program into government primary schools. This step is designed to transition children who have been supported through accelerated learning back into the formal school system, giving them a better chance at sustained learning and development.
The goal of the ROOSC Project is clear: to create communities that are champions of change, where every child regardless of gender, background, or ability has access to quality education. Together, we can break barriers, transform lives, and build a stronger future for Kaduna State.
